The Government has set a new target for the quality of freshwater in New Zealand.

It aims to make 90 percent of the country lakes and rivers swimmable by 2040. New policy, regulations, information maps and funding was announced to help achieve the goal. Submissions on the plan close on Friday 28 April 2017.
